Zine Art Exhibition

Come along and see a selection of artwork from some of our zine fair exhibitors: Bunny Bissoux, Carla Smith, Dina Kelberman, Gareth Courage, Harriet Shephard, Lizz Lunney and Roxie Collins.

Mid-launch takes place at 5pm – 7pm on Friday 8th July.

Gareth Courage Exhibition

Friday 8th – Friday 22nd July 2011 (free entry)
@ We Are Birmingham Kings Parade,
‘From The Ashes Of Industry We Rise…’ is an exhibition of graphics and illustration developed by Gareth Courage for the independent record and publishing label, First Fold. A zine will be published to coincide with the event, featuring visual work from all the artists involved with the label as well as a flexidisc of short audio pieces.

Launch takes place at 6pm – 8pm on Friday 8th July.

Zine Fair

12 noon – 6pm, Saturday 9th July 2011 (free entry)

The fair will feature a varied collection of exhibitors who self-publish books, comics and magazines. Individual zine-makers and distributors are coming from all over the country to display and sell their work. Cakes and refreshments will also be available throughout the day.

The Brothers McLeod will be showing their new film, Isle of Spagg! Greg McLeod will be in the downstairs gallery at 3pm discussing the making of their new film and Isle of Spagg will begin at 3.30pm.

Drawing Workshop

A chance for creators and the public to unwind with pencil and paper. We Are Words + Pictures host an informal session that artists of all abilities can join in. We’ll have material to help you get started, and a few people on hand to guide you and answer your questions.

@ Get A Grip The Custard Factory,
Kay and Sam from Get A Grip will guide you through the process of making your very own totally unique t-shirt. T-shirt, equipment, inks, images and expertise supplied for £25 per person. Payment for the workshop will need to be in advance due to the limited number of spaces available. More details here.

After Show Party

8pm – 1.30am, Saturday 9th July 2011 (£1.50 entry)
@ The Jekyll and Hyde
We’ve booked out the upstairs Gin Parlour for our party! The Sugarfoot Stomp DJs will be playing tracks from the 1920s to the 1960s. Birmingham Zine Festival goody bags will be available.

BBQ in the courtyard from 6pm to 9pm serving beef, chicken, ostrich and veggie gourmet burgers!

Zine Picnic

1pm – 4pm, Sunday 10th July 2011 (free to attend)
@ Cannon Hill Park 2
Join us for an informal and relaxed picnic in the park. This is a free event with nothing for sale. Bring food and drink and bring your zines!
